General Description:

Under general supervision, performs repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance on all plant manufacturing and support equipment. Troubleshooting and maintains a variety of related electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. May install minor modifications.

Guidance from Maintenance Supervisor and/or Manager is readily available.

Essential Duties:

1. Dismantle, adjust, repair and assemble manufacturing machinery and equipment.

2. Troubleshoot and perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery to prevent production downtime.

3. Perform tests and minor equipment using appropriate testing equipment.

4. Perform/or install minor modifications on equipment and machinery.

5. Assists with specific maintenance projects as assigned.

Other Duties:

1. Insure that equipment is safe and in proper working order.

2. Comply with safety regulations and take precautions to assure safety of others when working with equipment.

3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Machines and Equipment Used:

Works with a wide variety of production line and related manufacturing machinery and equipment. Also; drives fork lift, uses standard hand and power tools, a variety of fabrication and precision tools and safety equipment.

Job Conditions/Complexity:

Frequent exposure to heat, cold, noise, fumes and flammable solvents. Must wear protective safety equipment when applicable.

Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.

Qualifications:

Requires basic reading, writing and mathematical ability; electrical and mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of Griffin Food process is preferred; normally acquired through 1 year as a Maintenance Tech I or previous related maintenance experience.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to physically bend, twist, push and pull, in order to get in/out and under machinery and equipment. Must be able to maintain periods of prolonged visual concentration, and perform repetitive movements with upper extremities.
