The United States Department of Veterans Affairs is the government's military veteran benefits system. Its principal role is to provide benefits and support to veterans when they leave the service. The VA collaborates with the US Interagency Council on Homelessness to address these challenges. It was founded in 1930 and is led by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, who is nominated by the President with the advice and approval of the Senate.
