Job Summary: The Director, Surgery Services will coordinate all onsite pre-operative/post-operative procedural patient care which will be delivered in multiple departments, including central sterile processing. This role will be a liaison between multiple health system campuses with perioperative service duties to support service line integration between surgical clinical services.

Minimum Education: Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom. Master's degree in Nursing, Business, or related Healthcare field, preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License. Certified Nurses, Operating Room (CNOR) or Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum 8 years of related experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of fiscal management practices. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to resolve conflict/problems in a positive and constructive manner. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications. Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) software, Epic experienced preferred. Ability to solve complex problems with minimal direction. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Oversees and directs assigned department’s day-to-day operations, including all staffing functions, budget and resource management, workflows, and goal development that is aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. Engages in collaborative partnerships with operational leaders to strategically plan and drive business initiatives. Works with multiple departments to optimize and plan variable workforce, ensuring optimal resource allocation, productivity, and operational efficiency. Completes capital and controllable budget plans, identifying budget variances and determining strategy for budget reconciliation. Continuously monitors overall utilization of resources and directs assessments and acquisition of required equipment. Ensures operations maximize patient flow and mitigate unexpected delays in all services areas. Oversees activities that promote the delivery of effective, quality patient care, and the development of department/divisional policies, procedures, and guidelines to comply with professional accreditation and government standards.

Decision Making: Independent judgement in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.

Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others, including managers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level and above.
