Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This position participates in an on-call rotation once fully trained, which occurs approximately once per quarter. There are no weekend requirements at this time; however, weekend coverage may be required in the future based on operational needs.

Work Location: This role is onsite only in Muskogee, OK and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Job Summary: The Biomedical Equipment Technician I provides quality medical equipment management, preventative maintenance, and repair to the cost centers within the Saint Francis Health System. This role promotes safety, reduces costs, meets regulatory standards, and supports staff.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree in Biomed Equipment Technology or related Degree, preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid unrestricted driver’s license and proof of insurance. Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician, preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum 1 year.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software. Ability to be proficient in the use of hand tools, diagnostic equipment, DVM's, ability to work from service manual, troubleshooting skills, and ability to properly document performed work. Ability to interact with various levels of staff, including upper management, on a professional level. Ability to communicate verbally or in written format when necessary. Sound ability to maintain professional and courteous and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Repairs, calibrates and installs various types of clinical, physiological, respiratory, surgical, dialysis, clinical networks, communications, and visual recording systems, directly or indirectly related to patients. Performs safety checks and preventative maintenance on clinical, physiological, respiratory, surgical, dialysis, clinical networks, communications, and visual recording systems, directly or indirectly related to patients. Performs emergency service for staff, troubleshooting equipment, equipment setups, and operational procedures during surgical cases and/or while running floors. Maintains equipment history with written and computer documentation, including all parts and labor and contract services, providing reports as requested. Instructs users and participates in user training programs on equipment operations and safety standards. Supports the Health System Mission, Vision, Values and Goals in the daily performance of duties. Practices and maintains the Quality Improvement program of the department. Meets all hospital-wide and department-specific competencies annually. Performs after hours on-call responsibilities as required.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.

Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
