Job Summary: Supervises the assigned DME Department staff. Has oversight of department human resource functions inclusive of determining work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency. Monitors staff to ensure products, equipment, and services provided are accurate. Also, that each customer contact exemplifies excellent customer service. Responsible for managing department resources.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Off-campus system support duties will require use of a private vehicle. A valid driver license, Motor Vehicle Report and proof of vehicle liability insurance in the amount required by SFHS guidelines will be required.
Work Experience: 1 - 2 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to monitor and supervise activities of others and hold staff accountable for work performance. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Working knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word. Effective written and oral communication skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supervises the assigned departmental employees daily activities to ensure complete and accurate delivery of DME products and services. Schedules deliveries, pick-ups, discontinuances, maintenances or changes in service. Determines/establishes work procedures, work schedules and expedites workflow. Ensures staff is appropriately trained on policies and procedures. Assists with the hiring, firing, training, scheduling, payroll, counseling, and performance evaluations for staff. Maintains weekly and monthly reports as required by manager to efficiently monitor the workflows, departmental statistics, and other productivity of the staff. Monitors staff performance and manages the training/education of team members. Reviews or assists staff with review of physician orders, collects proper documentation to comply with insurance/payor requirements for dispensing, delivery/set up of equipment, product, and/or services. Responsible for maintaining the proper inventory of equipment and supplies to ensure timely execution of products/services. Coordinates, as appropriate, compliance programs and maintains departmental work logs to follow up with patients as required to capture documentation for meeting insurance and regulatory guidelines. Verifies and/or ensures staff has verified insurance eligibility, demographics and benefits coverage criteria and patients are informed of their financial responsibility, co-pay and deductible amounts are collected. Has oversight of assigned departments paperwork and medical records to ensure timely payment for products, equipment and/or services provided. Responds to patient, physician, vendor, provider concerns and ensures correction of the complaint while ensuring service recovery. Assists in resolving issues related to equipment, services, products, and/or billing.
Decision Making: Independent judgment making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.
Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others: 5-20 employees. Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
