Work schedule: 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday, possible weekend shifts

Job Summary: The Mobility Aide functions in support of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other clinical professional to provide direct, mobility-related patient care. This role provides mobility, strength training, range of motion, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADL).

Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: Minimum 6 months of related patient care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of contraindications for mobility. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency using computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated knowledge and skills appropriate to care for assigned patient population. Ability to maintain a compassionate and caring attitude towards patients, families, physicians, and employees. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides patient care to assigned group of patients, utilizing basic care giving knowledge and skills. Prepares patients for therapeutic activities by assisting with toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and other ADL. Performs patient transfers using proper body mechanics and employing the necessary cueing and physical assistance as directed. Assists, safeguards, motivates, and assists patients practicing exercises, mobility, range of motion, and functional activities as directed. Adjusts level of assistance to the patient’s ability/level of independence, encourages independence. Determines need for and properly implements safety measures for the patient during and following activity. Reports pertinent information and observations regarding patients to responsible nursing or therapy teams. Cleans, repairs, and inventories assistive devices and equipment as needed.

Decision Making: Independent judgement in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited, and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Working Relationships: Coordinates the activities of others (does not supervise). Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
