Job Summary: Manages and coordinates activities of workers concerned with FDA, DOT, OSHA and The Joint Commission and regulatory requirements, ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, delivering, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in stockroom, and warehouse.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Health, or other related discipline.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Work Experience: 3 - 4 years related experience. Warehouse, shipping and receiving or materials management experience with medical field knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Medicare, TJC, federal and state regulations. Demonstrated effective management skills. Computer skills, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Ability to lead others. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and duties, good verbal and written communication skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Responsible for the layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Works with supervisor to accomplish the following: assures delivery driver and warehouse staff records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures. Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems. Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock. Determines adequacy of stock levels. Schedules work for special and periodic inventories. Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. Maintains positive relationships among workers and resolves grievances. Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates. Resolves errors and complaints. Assists with annual budgetary development and goals for warehouse and delivery department, in conjunction with the director of operations. Works with supervisor to plan workday and routes for delivery drivers and warehouse staff. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Ensure maximum productivity and flow of all related operations. Research and implement new systems to ensure completion of HME processes Issues written and oral instructions. Directly supervises employees in the Warehouse Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Maintains weekly and monthly reports as required by director to efficiently monitor the workflows, inventory levels, purchasing prices, delivery stats and other productivity of the delivery and warehouse staff. Participates in Improvement of Operational Performance (IOP) activities.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others - No. of people supervised: varies: (2 - 20). Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
