The Upholstery Seamstress is responsible for fabricating, covering, and finishing upholstered components for custom furniture. This role works closely with the woodworking and design teams to ensure each piece meets company standards for quality, design, and comfort. The ideal candidate has hands-on upholstery experience, excellent attention to detail, and a strong commitment to craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, and fit fabrics, vinyl, and leather to custom-built wood furniture frames.
• Apply padding, foam, webbing, and other materials using traditional and modern upholstery techniques.
• Operate industrial sewing machines, staple guns, foam cutters, and other upholstery tools safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret design drawings and work orders to produce pieces that meet client specifications.
• Collaborate with woodworkers, finishers, and designers to ensure accurate fit and finish between components.
• Repair or reupholster existing furniture pieces as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the upholstery area, tools, and materials.
• Inspect completed products for quality assurance prior to delivery or installation.
• Follow all company safety procedures and policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

• 1+ years of professional upholstery experience (furniture or automotive preferred).
• Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to work from drawings and verbal instructions with precision and efficiency.
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods.

Preferred:

• Experience working in a woodworking or furniture manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with commercial furniture production, particularly restaurant or hospitality seating.
• Basic woodworking skills or ability to collaborate closely with carpenters.
