Petco is a category-defining health and wellness company focused on improving the lives of pets, pet parents and Petco partners. Duties & Responsibilities:
•Participates in design and development of new and current systems
•Participates in enterprise architecture reviews and provides recommendations and guidance to align the Store Apps to optimize Petco IT investments
•Act as technical lead for small project/feature change
•Participates in production issues with appropriate escalations and in root cause analysis and implements short, mid and long term remediations
•Work with the Product Management team, Project Management, Business and User Experience teams to identify and prioritize features
•Participate in all grooming, priority setting sessions, project sizing activities
•Evaluates new tools, technologies and processes to improve speed, efficiency and scalability
•Will be responsible for monitoring server and application performance using one or more of Application Performance Monitoring tools: NewRelic, CloudWatch and Sumologic
•Work closely with other development teams across Petco to troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities for seamless integrations across systems
•Provides coaching for Software Engineers
•Thrives on working in a fast-paced environment
Minimum qualifications:
•5+ years of professional experience in software support at enterprise level
•BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related IT field
•Hands-on development experience with App Development – React Native, Android
•Hands-on experience with Python, Flask, packaging and dependency management and storage systems (such as GitLab, Maven, Gradle, Artifactory)
•Hands-on experience with AWS application development (Candidates with AWS DevOps or AWS Solution Architecture certifications strongly preferred)
•Experience with the containers and container management systems (such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Fargate/ECS, Docker Swarm)
•Working knowledge in Infrastructure configuration management and IAC methodologies and technologies (such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Chief, Puppet – Terraform preferred)
•Working knowledge in developing and tuning with DynomoDB, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL
•Experience with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (such as Cucumber, Robot, Selenium, JMeter)
•Experience with creating alerts, dashboards, canned queries – as well as configuring and integrating log aggregation (such as SumoLogic, Splunk, ELK, syslog – SumoLogic preferred)
•Experience in identifying measures, or indicators of system performance (application, integration, database) and the actions needed to improve or correct performance to achieve desired outcomes.
•Experience troubleshooting issues across a complex IT ecosystem across multiple cross-functional teams
•Experience with ServiceNow
•Experienced with Agile practices (Kanban or Scrum) and full software development lifecycles
•Strong interpersonal & communication skills
