Media Developer AA/35 NSU Online/CTL CODES JOB CODE: 7586 EEO: 05 GRADE: 20B OTRS: Optional E/NE: Non-Exempt VAC: 7 hr DEGREE: 01 SAFETY SENSITIVE: No DATE: 05/21 ADMINISTRATIVE TITLE: 67 MANPOWER RESOURCE: 6 CUPA: IPEDS: JOB SUMMARY This on campus position is responsible for the development of a variety of print, digital, and video media products in support of diverse Center for Teaching and Learning/NSU Online initiatives. MAJOR DUTIES • Facilitates project management. • Provides guidance to the use of visual and audio media best practices. • Creates and designs a variety of digital products including posters, brochures, books, covers, fliers, and advertisements. • Produces videos for face to face and virtual classroom use; records and produces videos covering many topics; edits videos; compresses videos for web distribution. • Produces digital and print graphics; designs logos. • Performs multi-media conversions. • Develops video animation. • Maintains video management platforms. • Develops training materials. • Performs related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION • Knowledge of Americans With Disabilities Act. • Knowledge of copyright laws. • Knowledge of graphic and web design principles. • Knowledge of video production techniques. • Knowledge of streaming platforms. • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. • Skilled in the design and production of a variety of multi-media products. • Skilled in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. • Skilled with studio best practices for video and audio production. • Skilled in oral and written communication. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Executive Director assigns work in terms of general instructions and spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results. GUIDELINES Guidelines include department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application. COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK • The work consists of varied duties in the development of materials in a variety of mediums. Strict deadlines contribute to the complexity of the position. • The work requires the ability to recognize and effectively create the stakeholder’s vision in graphic or video format. • The work requires simultaneous management of projects adding to the complexity of the position. • The purpose of this position is to design, develop, and produce a variety of media products. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of a variety of NSU Online/CTL operations. CONTACTS • Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and members of the general public. • Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects. The employee must distinguish between shades of color. • The work is typically performed in an office. • The work may involve travel. • The work may involve performing duties in inclement weather. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY None. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. • Practical knowledge and experience with a variety of instructional technologies and teaching methods. • Certification in Quality Matters Applying the Rubric and Peer Review.
