University Representative- Non-Traditional and Targeted Populations EM/ Enrollment Management CODES JOB CODE: 6818 EEO: 03 GRADE: 16/1 OTRS: Optional E/NE: Non-Exempt VAC: 7 hr DEGREE: 01 SAFETY SENSITIVE: No DATE: 05/19 ADMINISTRATIVE TITLE: 67 MANPOWER RESOURCE: 6 CUPA: 411110 IPEDS: 21-1012 JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for recruiting non-traditional and targeted populations, including returning students, concurrent, home school, GED, and adult students. MAJOR DUTIES Recruits students through oral presentations, college and career fairs, community events, written and electronic communications, and individual contacts. Plans, organizes, and supervises recruitment events. Maintains relationships with prospective students from first contact through enrollment; serves as university liaison to prospective students, parents, and high school counselors. Gathers and maintains current knowledge of university programs and services. Maintains positive working relationships with high school counselors, community and grant funded partners. Coordinates travel schedule within Oklahoma and surrounding boarder states, including travel to college fairs, high schools, and scholarship awards ceremonies. Assists in the recruitment of community college transfer students. Serves on assigned committees. Performs related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of higher education recruitment best practices. Knowledge of university admission processes, degree options, and housing procedures. Knowledge of university programs and services. Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. Skill in oral and written communication. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results. GUIDELINES Guidelines include Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act requirements and university policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application. COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work consists of varied student recruitment duties. The high volume of student contacts contributes to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to recruit students for NSU. Success in this position contributes to the successful recruitment of students. CONTACTS Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, parents, high school teachers and counselors, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects and distinguishes between shades of color. The work is typically performed in an office. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY None. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
