Assistant Softball Coach Athletics Job Summary Northeastern State University (NSU) has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant Softball Coach. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, daily player skill development, practice coordination, team and small group instruction, participation in prospect camps, and assisting in nationwide recruiting efforts. A proven track record of recruiting experience, demonstration of the ability to cultivate relationships on a nationwide scale, and a positive, professional attitude are essential to this position. The candidate must also be willing to work within a distinctive environment which demands excellence in all phases of the student-athlete's existence at the Academy. Major Duties e Adheres to all policies and regulations of NSU. e Adheres to all rules, regulations and procedures established by MIAA and NCAA. © Assists the Head Coach in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes. e Exercises reasonable judgment in sports program and travel expenditures, as applicable. e Coordinates and attends all daily training sessions. e Attends coaches’ meetings as scheduled. e Assists in designing practice plans, game plans, and strategies ® Assumes responsibility for the coaching area(s) assigned by the Head Coach. ® Responsible for maintaining a commitment to sportsmanship in all areas of coaching activities. e Helps direct nationwide recruiting efforts. ® Assists the Head Coach with on-campus visits, as directed. e Establishes and maintains a good working and professional relationship with all NSU administration and staff. ® Establishes and maintains ongoing relations with supporters and alumni as appropriate. ® Assists in any projects assigned by the Head Coach. e Assists with special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics, the assigned Sport Administrator, and/or Head Coach. e Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Experience coaching at the collegiate level is preferred. Candidates with equivalent playing experience at the collegiate and professional level will also be considered. Knowledge Required by the Position e The successful candidate should bring a positive and uplifting demeanor to all facets of our program and be willing to work cohesively for the betterment of our players and the program. ® The person should demonstrate the ability to pay attention to detail, enjoy problem solving, and perform duties as assigned. © The successful candidate shall also possess excellent writing and communication skills. © Astrong work ethic, be organized, be flexible, and be able to work with technologies required in the job. * Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). * Proficiency with Google Workspace. Work Conditions/Physical Requirements ® Ability to stand, walk, or move for extended periods during practices, games, and recruiting events. * Capacity to demonstrate physical techniques, drills, and sport-specific skills as needed. e Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. ° Willingness and ability to travel frequently for recruiting, competitions, and professional development. © Adequate vision, hearing, and speech to communicate effectively with student-athletes, staff, and external audiences. ® Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to a variety of weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, wind, and humidity. © Physical stamina to manage long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the athletic season. © Must possess or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. ° Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.Travel As necessary for recruiting away competitions. This may involve overnight trips. Travel will be based on the NCAA competition and recruiting calendar.
