Physician Assistant Studies Program, NSU Muskogee
Description of Position
Northeastern State University (NSU) invites applications for a part time, 12-month, non-tenure track position as Clinical Assistant Professor, Principal Faculty in the Physician Assistant Studies program at NSU. The program emphasizes preparing students for rural practice. The PA program is housed on the NSU Muskogee campus. Both teaching (80%) and administrative/service (20%) assignments are part of this role.
Program
Promote the mission of Northeastern State University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large
Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
Comply with faculty/staff policies and procedures
Work with NSU faculty and staff on an ongoing basis to maintain program compliance with the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) criteria for accreditation and re-accreditation
Fulfill the NSU Department of Health Professions Strategic Plan of being the premiere health professions program in the region
Provide committee service at a program level
Attend PA program weekly faculty meetings
Teaching
Participate with other principal faculty in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation/assessment of the PA didactic program curriculum
Provide PA student instruction, assessment, remediation, and academic advisement in areas of clinical expertise
Assist the Director of Clinical Education in developing curricular content for the clinical call-back days
Program support
Participate in PA student selection
Assist in the search process for selecting PA program faculty
Advise the program director of any problems related to behavior, academics or professionalism
Fulfill faculty responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Handbook
Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the PA program.
Scholarship
Establish a personal program of scholarly activity
Participate in clinical practice, as assigned
Service
Perform service activities that advance the PA program, and the PA profession, including assistance in the recruitment, orientation, and retention of PA students
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Dedication to the academic priorities of NSU and the NSU PA program mission
Previous experience with ARC-PA accreditation procedures and articulation processes is preferred
Experience in activities that focus on assessment and student learning outcomes is preferred
Experience with simulation learning activities beneficial
Supportive of the mission and values of Northeastern State University
Education And Experience
Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program or other healthcare-related field
Master’s degree in physician assistant studies or related field required.
Current NCCPA certification is required with a minimum of three years of clinical experience.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
Experience as a faculty member in a PA program or comparable experience is preferred.
