Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs by implementing district-approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.Essential Functions: Conducts assessments/testing/diagnostics; participates in PPTs and assists in developing IEPs; assists staff in implementing IEPs and behavior plans; coordinates with agencies and staff; provides counseling resources to students/parents; continues professional learning; organizes/maintains records; encourages parental involvement; assists with orientation/in-service; selects/requisitions materials.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of Special Education principles, differentiated instruction, data systems and analysis, applicable laws; ability to use computer systems, organize/coordinate work, communicate effectively, self-evaluate, and maintain cooperative relationships.Qualifications Profile: Certification/License: State Certification as a Special Education Teacher; valid driver’s license or transportation. Education: Bachelor’s in education discipline; Master’s in Special Education. Experience: Prior special education teaching experience preferred. FLSA: Exempt.
