Responsibilities

SUMMARY

The Accountant position involves general accounting, payroll cost accounting, revenue accounting, order to cash, fixed assets, financial analysis, and support financial operations.

Education Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

PREFERRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Skills

  • Motivated to learn, grow professionally, solve problems proactively, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and coordinate with multiple team members for efficient outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; familiarity with Sage Accounting, Salesforce, and Procore is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Basic accounting knowledge in areas such as Accounts Payable, Payroll, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger; prior experience in construction, manufacturing, or specialty contracting is beneficial but not required.

Qualifications

General Accounting:

  • Perform data entry for company credit card transactions and the reconciliation process.
  • Process material charge-out entries accurately in the accounting system.
  • Enter and reconcile counter sales and inventory sales transactions.
  • Assist the Staff Accountant with Accounts Payable processing as time permits.
  • Provide backup support for answering company phones.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Accounting Team to ensure smooth workflow transitions and provide mutual support.
  • Shared responsibility for keeping current on applicable accounting principles.
  • Shared responsibility for month-end entries, preparing work papers, and entering journal entries.
  • Shared responsibility for opening and setting up jobs.
  • Shared responsibility for recording cash receipts into software.

Billing and Accounts Receivable:

  • Handle billing and collection processes for smaller projects.
  • Responsible for the monthly billing cycle for specific project managers, preparing project profitability reports, and accurate invoices for all billable projects.

Payroll Administration:

  • Manage full-cycle weekly payroll processing for South Carolina operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper record-keeping.
  • Prepare and file monthly Union reports accurately and on schedule.
  • Process and file quarterly 941 payroll tax returns and related state withholding reports.
  • Manage annual W-2 processing, beginning with South Carolina employees, with potential future expansion.
