Responsibilities

  • Evaluate requests for purchase of supplies, equipment and services to determine the appropriate procurement method to purchase, bid, or identify a new source of supply.
  • Assist in the development of bid specifications and standards to ensure the lowest pricing, promote competition and maintain quality
  • Provide support to employees regarding requisitions, purchase orders and vendors
  • Process requisitions into purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures and ethics guidelines
  • Compile and maintain organized purchasing records by assuring that purchasing activities are fully documented
  • Enter daily purchase order/job cost transfers into Sage
  • Follow up/expedite calls on outstanding orders using e-mail whenever possible, to maintain documentation of conversations
  • Perpetually maintain inventory records or materials and supplies and ensure the accuracy of such is maintained
  • Check stock material on a daily basis to ensure min/max material levels are maintained
  • Maintain the status of open order records and arrange for the receiving document to be filed so that it can be mated easily to the corresponding incoming invoice
  • Work closely with Receiving Department to ensure proper supplies have arrived including work on the expediting report and follow as needed.

Education Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience Requirements

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary education in Supply Chain Management
  • 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing/construction purchasing environment preferred.
  • Background in purchasing/buying various steel, knowledge of structural steel, negotiating steel prices, knowledge of spiral, ducting, metal rings, fasteners preferred.
