Overview

Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Dock Worker, based in York, PA, at the Recycling Plant.

We have an opening for 2nd Shift, which operates from 2:48 PM - 11:00 PM Monday through Friday.

The starting pay for this position is $22.05 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential.

Weekly Pay and Benefits Effective Day One and Vacation after 90-days!

Dock Workers are responsible for the loading and unloading of trailers. The primary duties of a Dock Worker include:

  • Follow all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Perform a safety lift truck inspection at the begining of each shift.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.
  • Review daily shipping schedule with Shift Supervisor.
  • Provide accurate information of loaded and unloaded materials.
  • Attach inventory tags to each plastic bale that is unloaded.
  • Prepare finished goods shipments for the following business day.
  • Participate in physical inventory taking.
  • Maintain 5S areas assigned by Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the warehouse, outside bale yard, and the front dock, in and outside.
  • Operate the floor scrubber as needed throughout the plant.
  • Follow established forklift procedures and complete required safety and maintenance checklists
  • Follow established procedures for damaged finished goods and raw materials and report them to the Shift Supervisor
  • Complete written documentation as required.
  • Occasionally use forklift to move pallets of finished product to warehouse
  • Assist in maintaining supplies of corrugated and other packaging supplies at each production line.
  • Assist on the production floor as assigned by Shift Supervisor
  • Visually inspect all completed pallets of product for quality and conformity to the packaging instructions to ensure quality at the source, prior to shipping

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year forklift experience preferred.

Forklift Operators are required to interact with other managers, employees, and truck drivers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:

  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate truck drivers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and written.
  • Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
