Position Purpose:
The Retail Branch Manager is responsible for the development of the retail business in their assigned branch and management of the retail staff of Relationship Bankers and Service Bankers. Ensuring branch operations align with our Service Philosophy to build lasting relationships by earning our customers’ trust and exceeding their expectations. This position will be accountable for maximizing revenues, sales, customer satisfaction, and minimizing operational losses as well as deepening existing relationships and minimizing customer attrition.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in local market/community activities, preferably in a leadership capacity. You will promote Firstar Bank brand and support community initiatives.
- Promote and enhance customer relationships by projecting a positive image of the bank, department, and self by providing quality service to all customers.
- Plan and execute the financial center’s retention and growth activities. You will drive the team to build a strong pipeline of prospects and clients.
- Primary Security Officer for the branch. Conducts required security meetings with staff to ensure compliance. Opens and closes the building in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment quarterly.
- Prepare month-end management reports which apprise executive management of the status of branch activities.
- Ensures all branch transactions are balanced at the close of each day. Oversees individual accountability for the handling of cash and assists in resolving balancing problems. Ensure ATMs are serviced, balanced and functional on a weekly basis.
- Conduct audits in compliance with policy and procedures.
- Approve transactions that require management override.
- Assist employees with situations involving difficult customers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve internal and external inquiries.
- Log referrals and customer feedback through internal system on a regular basis.
- Ensures personnel are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Completes orientation of new employees in overall branch procedures. Actively participates in cross-training personnel and assures staff is kept abreast of all products and services. Conducts security training.
- Create teller schedules to always ensure proper coverage. Review, edit if necessary, and approve employee timecards prior to the deadline each pay period.
- Ensures branch staff adheres to all bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures branch staff completes annual training.
Qualifications
- Previous banking management experience is required.
- Must possess extensive knowledge and familiarity of banking products and services as might normally be acquired through 5+ years of experience in the department or the equivalent.
- Supervisory abilities, including leadership skills sound decision making, the ability to motivate others, and the capability to address conflict in a positive and productive manner.
- Interpersonal/service-oriented skills and aptitude.
- Outstanding leadership skills such as approachability, flexibility, dependability.
- Ability to respond in a fast paced, fluid environment while maintaining a service-oriented mindset and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to build professional relationships with coworkers and customers.
- Problem solving skills and ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Strong sense of initiative; self-motivated.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as a teller or relevant financial institution role.
- Minimum two (2) years of management experience.
- Customer Service experience required
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Typically requires sitting for long periods of time with intermittent stooping, bending, and walking.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds which may include the need for independent mobility to: bend, reach, or kneel.
- Visual and auditory skills are required.
- Ability to travel within the market on a regular basis.
- May be required to work some evenings and/or weekends as necessary.
