Dal-Tile is currently seeking an exceptional Operations Technician to join our TEAM! As the Operations Technician, we need someone who is ready to assist all team members throughout the production process in the effective production of tile.
Primary Objective
Experienced Team Member that assist all team members throughout the production process in the effective production of tile.
Major Function and Scope
Ensures safe, healthy, and organized working environment for all areas. Acts as a standard bearer for company policy and practice.
Ensures all safety protocols, which are certified to OHSAS 18001, throughout the plant are followed and administers weekly Safety Huddle. Performs necessary LOTO audits.
Follows the Quality Management System, which is certified to ISO 9001:2015 for operations, including SOP, SPI and Test Methods.
Responsible for all department related ISO process and procedures involved in the production of tile.
Monitors department equipment or processes to insure they operate within specifications (temperature, pressure, volume, density, other spec) and reports problems to supervisor.
Inspects the tile quality at critical junctures (department entry/exit, post process) and suggests/executes small specifications changes, with direction and support by technical area, to improve said quality.
Audits and/or performs quality control tests to ensure tile meets/exceeds standards and take action if out of specification
Review/understand BC and Pack Stock audit findings and take appropriate action, with direction and support by technical area, to improve quality
Troubleshoots problems with tile (cracks, warpage, chipping, BOS, etc.), identifies and resolves tile issues notifying upstream departments when upstream causes are identified. Root Cause defects and trace back.
Communicate issues with tile openly and professionally within and between departments.
Monitors status of equipment and consumables and organizes/requests interventions to maintain optimal conditions (rollers change and cleaning, baffles and walls repair, other operations with maintenance support)
Monitors the effect of equipment adjustments on the tile and request intervention if needed.
Deploys team members in effective ways to manage workflow. Ensures team members are in the proper place to produce quality tile at all times.
Assist all team members throughout the department in the effective production of tile or related processes.
Responsible for working with maintenance team to develop and sustain operator basic care programs.
Supports a life-long learning environment, enhancing own skills as well as assisting in the development of other employees.
Responsible for training all team members regarding safety, quality system, and operational processes of all department equipment including product knowledge. Effectively communicates training progress on all team members. Works with Department manager when team members are ready for additional responsibility or promotion. Performs operational set-ups and checks on equipment.
Execute, participate, and drive color changes and/or size setups/changeovers and acts as operator fill-in and relief responsibilities for operator job functions.
Coordination with LGV Coordinator as appropriate regarding scheduling, workflow, and pallet and box programs.
Assist Department Manager & Shift Manager in daily operations by coordinating operations, guiding team members, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining department KPI’s.
Collect relevant shift information (equipment status, DT, defects, testing, etc.) and pass down to incoming lead in concise and complete manner.
Ability to perform any task required of a department operator. Knowledge of all jobs in department. Fill in as needed online. Ability to fill in and perform daily operations as Supervisor in the absence of Supervisor.
Performs other related duties as required.
Experience and Knowledge Required
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience.
1+ years of manufacturing/production experience.
Competencies
Must be Dal-Tile certified to operate powered industrial trucks. Good oral and written communication skills. Good listening skills. Good record keeping skills. Accurate measurement capability. Ability to read and understand procedures in English
