Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Lead Process Technician with experience in plastic extrusion to join our team. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Lead Process Technician will be responsible monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing production processes and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. You will work closely with engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and adhere to strict safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and an eagerness to learn new techniques.
Job Responsibilities
- Acts as technical lead to oversee production processes, including set-up, start-up, and changeover procedures
- Responsible for monitoring and controlling production processes, ensuring that equipment and machinery are operating within specified parameters
- Designs, plans, and implements regular inspections of production lines, identifying and addressing any abnormalities, malfunctions, or deviations from quality standards
- Oversees tasks completed by process technicians
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify the root causes of problems, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Train and assist operators and process technicians in proper equipment operations, troubleshooting techniques, process control, and safety guidelines
- Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to develop and optimize production processes, improving efficiency, yield, and product quality
- Perform routine calibration on production equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns
- Develop process improvement strategies and contribute ideas for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste reduction in collaboration with other departments
- Understand customer requirements and ensure that products are manufactured accordingly
- Maintain accurate production records and communicate any issues or concerns to management in a timely manner
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or technical certificate preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic extrusion manufacturing processes or related field
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Knowledge of processing equipment such as extruders, dies, cooling tanks
- Knowledge of safety protocols, quality control principles, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to read blueprints/drawings/schematics and measuring devices (calipers/micrometers)
- Proficiency in using tools and instruments for measurement, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Good written/oral communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with others
- Flexibility to work in shifts and adapt to changing production demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to noise and heat
Compensation
- The hourly pay rate is $33-$45/hr
